Side note – the taxi drivers usually have the radio on.  There are a couple stations that play “soft pop” and are a blend of songs in both English and Indonesian.  The DJ’s often flip back and forth mid-sentence between Bahasa Indonesian and English, which is kind of neat.  But what makes it so amazing is not that they can speak English or go back and forth, but that they have perfect, accent-free English!  They sound like they are straight from any one of a thousand “Z -100 Morning Zoo” program in the US!  And then they go right back into Indonesian.  (They are also not constrained by any FCC rules regarding language….enough said.)
