Bandung Branch

One of the things President Rowley has asked us to do when we visit Bandung is to visit some of the less active Branch members.  This afternoon we met Elders Palmer and Grundveig at Brother Irwan’s house.  He has been inactive for 30 years, so he has a long ways to go.  A very nice man who lost his wife several years ago, so he is somewhat bitter.  We met with him and had a nice visit – but sometimes these things take time.  And in his case, I think it will take a little while.

I was able to bear my testimony in Bahasa (actually had to read it because I can’t actually speak Bahasa!) and invited him to come back to Church and invited him to read the Book of Mormon.  The Gospel is true and could really make his life happier.  But, free agency is alive and well and he can make his own choices.  All we can do is invite, and that’s exactly what we did.

Just some of the macet tonight after our meeting – we were looking for a taxi in this mess!

After our appointment with Br. Irwan, we stopped with the Elders for  bite to eat at this little neighborhood warung.  Ayam Goreng (fried chicken), Sapi Goreng (fried beef) and Nasi Goreng Ayam (fried rice and chicken) and water – delicious and cost 88,000 Rp. (about $6.50)
